Pioneered by American Standard in the 1960's, ceramic disc valving is the current is the current state-of-the-art in washerless valving technology.

The valve consists of two diamond polished ceramic discs that glide against each other when opened and allow water to pass though as holes in each disc become aligned.

Ceramic disc valving utilizes discs crafted of fire-hardened ceramic, a hard, durable material that is unaffected by temperature extremes. Ceramic is also used in the aerospace and automotive industries due to its ability to withstand high temperatures, wear and caustic environments.

Ceramic discs are:

  • Maintenance free
  • Won't wear out
  • Backed by a limited lifetime guarantee
  • Unaffected by temperature extremes
  • Perfect for hard water
  • Unaffected by line debris such as sand and grit
  • Won't absorb waster or soften over time like plastic or rubber
  • provides for smooth handle control that will not stiffen over time

- a guarantee of years of drip-free , trouble-free operation.

American Standard continues to be the only faucet manufacturer who actually engineers and produces our own ceramic disc valves. Our experience produces the finest valve available for consistent smooth operation, maximum durability, and a lifetime of drip-free performance.

Americast is a patented process that bonds a porcelain surface, enameling grade metal and a structural composite backing. This remarkable process, exclusive to American Standard, yields a product that weighs less and outperforms cast iron in dependability and durability.

Americast brings unsurpassed benefits to the plumbing contractors, consumer, specifier, and wholesaler. Americast's combination of lightness and resistance to the damage is not found in any other porcelain bathtub. Americast is now the only accepted alternative to cast iron being installws throughout the world.

Quieter when showering, More comfortable when bathing

  • Less Sound emission
Americast is quieter than cast iron when used for showering
    - a real plus in installations where noise transmission is a potential problem.
  • Better Heat Retention
Americast construction retains heat better than cast iron so your bath stays warmer longer.

Easier to Install

  • Its half the weight
Installing Americast is much easier and less expensive
because it weighs half as much as cast iron.

Less Damage During Handling and Installation
Americast shows no damage at nine foot pounds of impact (equal to a one half pound steel ball dropped from 18 feet) while cast iron has noticeable damage; also Americast construction provides equal to or better protection of the porcelain enameled surface than cast iron, when tested for direct impact.

Great Scrubability, Easy Maintenance
Under scrub test, the porcelain enameled surface on Americast increases in gloss unlike cast iron which loss gloss with each scrubbing.

Environment Friendly
When manufacturing cast iron tub, it will cause the environment pollution because of its specified product process, unlike cast iron, Americast is using the technique of molding, which will bring no pollution to us.
